Alan Wake II is still on course to release later this year, Remedy has confirmed. Buried at the bottom of a new blog post revealing the developer's new logo, communications director Thomas Puha says: "You can look forward to Alan Wake 2 later this year and several great Remedy experiences to play in the coming years." Control 2 and remakes of the original two Max Payne games are also in development at the Finnish studio.
First announced at The Game Awards in 2021, the survival horror sequel has always been slated for a PS5 launch this year, and Remedy has never swayed from that. With so few details surrounding the title, though, this commitment to a 2023 release suggests a blowout must be on the way sooner or later. A new trailer and more information during a June gaming conference sounds like a safe bet. We know the game is playable "from start to finish", so developerment does appear to be going well at least.
As for its all-new logo, the team wanted to "update and redefine our visual identity to bring more consistency, showcase our evolution over the years, and better express our vision of today’s Remedy". It explained the old logo represented the Max Payne era, with a bullet in the letter R. "We wanted our new logo to reflect how we constantly evolve and continue creating exciting games with the very best people. However, it’s all still one Remedy where courageous creativity thrives. We hope you like the new look."

Alan Wake II releasing this year still kind of feels too good to be true for me. I hope it happens, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Literally my most anticipated game this year. Can’t wait for this and Control 2!
Alan Wake is one of my favourite games of all time, so I have extremely high hopes for the sequel. With that in mind, Remedy can absolutely take its time with this one. Please don't rush it out, for goodness sake.
I want those Max Payne games! Wish they were doing all 3 in a three pack
Alan Wake is one of my all-time favorites. So this sound too good to be true, so I would like to believe Remedy on this one.
Maybe this will be one great year (for me, at least), if Hellblade 2 comes out too (highly unlikely, but one can dream ).
@PenguinLtd I think (I hope) there will be. I reckon Remedy would have taken on board what they've learned from Control and put gameplay at the front and centre. That being said they did say this was more traditional survival horror so perhaps less shooty shooty this time round?
That's cool and all but where the hell is Silent Hill 2? 😭
I don’t know about this new remedy logo it seems to veer from cool to warm only to drop a cold one on at the end which can only lead to confusion I mean whose decision was it to sign off with that one. Definitely a talking point and I’m glad you brought it up, will be interesting to see how opinions pan out in what is a landmark occasion with one of thee great rrrrrre-brandings of our time.
Just picked up Alan Wake Remastered. Can't wait to get my hands in the second one.
Honestly I hope it gets delayed into 2024. This year is already insane and I don’t have time for more 🥲
@LiamCroft Logged in to say the same exact thing. I’d love to have it but considering it’s Mid April and we’re still looking at the same pre-rendered trailer pics from the game awards with zero media hype I’m doubting this one highly.
Now I wish I didn’t give up on part 1. The gameplay seemed extremely repetitive after a few hours.
I've been thinking about picking up Alan Wake on the PS5, after getting stuck partway through on PC. With this announcement, I think I may hold off - surely it's hitting Plus a month or two before the sequel releases.
The announcements and reveals this summer are gonna blow minds 🤯
"Hello caller, your on the air." Hopefully there's a PS4 Pro version.
@PinderSchloss it's the storyline that is amazing about it.
The combat can get a little annoying after while but it is the constraints of that generation I guess.
@Amusei made by a different company, for a start.
Control remains the only game on ps5 I have bothered to platinum. The second one will overwrite anything will overwrite anything as my most anticipated. I have never known a game combine nuanced social commentary with actually being a good action game!
Max payne 1 and 2 looking forward to those
is max payne 3 owned by Rockstar ?
@PSXDave hopefully not, the last gen needs to die, so the current gen can take advantage of it's power.
@SolaceCreed Really? Wow, I had no idea. I figured Alan Wake was the protagonist from Silent Hill 2.
Thought the first one was terrible. But hopefully this won't be.
We moan when we hear about a game coming in a few years....
We Moan when we are told the game is coming but don't hear much about it...
We moan when we see to much of a game....
I mean could it just be some developers have just finally realised its best to tell us all about the game when they are certain the games coming out in a few or a couple of months.
Instead of a boat load of cgi trailers for a couple of years before the game sees the light of day
@Totheteeth couldn't agree more, was totally blown away by Control!
I'll wouldn't get my hope up. Remedy has proven time and again that they're not that good making well done games from the get go. Specially in the PC world
@northaldinho I feel like I could write an academic essay about Control. Usually the only games along those lines are ones which are pure w*nk in terms of the actual game. Control functioned on both levels really really well and that was revelatory!
I think control is massively over hyped it not even Remedys best game
Looking forward to all of these games ,im really hoping Rockstar do a solid and remake/remaster Max Payne 3 aswell..
@jFug Same here! Also hoping we eventually get a remaster or remake of Quantum Break for PS5.
It's the only Remedy game left that's stuck on Xbox.
